To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Hong Kong Art School, HKAS has partnered with RMIT University, Australia, to launch the “Master Talks Series,” offering professional art education for industry professionals and enthusiasts. The series covers diverse topics, featuring a stellar line-up of instructors, including RMIT’s experienced lecturers and artists from Australia, local Hong Kong artists, and Hong Kong Art School lecturers, blending global trends with local insights.The second talk “Curatorial Practice”, led by artist and curator Associate Professor Drew Pettifer, will take place on September 26, 2025, fostering engaging discussions in an interactive format to encourage exchange, embodying the ideals of international dialogue and creative practice. Dr Drew Pettifer is an artist, curator and non-practicing lawyer. His work examines queer history, the archive, power, embodiment, social practice and representation through creative practice. Using art as a vehicle to foreground critical queer histories which have been systematically under-represented in archives, he works across photography, video, sculpture, installation, textiles, and performance. He has received several awards for his creative practice and been exhibited across Australia and internationally. His artworks are held in major public collections in Australia, including the National Gallery of Victoria, City of Melbourne, and Art Gallery of South Australia, as well as private collections nationally and internationally.Drew holds qualifications in law, cultural theory, curating, and an award-winning doctorate in fine art from Monash University, Melbourne. He is currently an Associate Professor in Fine Art at RMIT University, where he is the International Lead in the School of Art. From 2020-24 Drew was the RMIT Program Lead for the BAFA Program at Hong Kong Art School.
